|
Name: Amy Smilovic What do you do: Owner and designer of Tibi, a women’s young-designer collection Where in the world are you currently: Austin, Texas for a charity event Tibi’s involved in. Such a great, cultural city How did you start off in the industry: I was living in Hong Kong with my husband, who was transferred there for work with American Express. I’d always wanted to start my own collection and decided this was the perfect time to do it with all of the fabric and factory resources. Favourite City: Paris Best piece of advice you’ve ever received: It was when I was starting my business. I was bogged down with information trying to piece together a business plan, and an entrepreneur said to me “Here’s your business plan [...] you make a product, if you sell it, you have a business. If you don’t, you don’t have a business.” I went out and placed an order with my factory the next day and I was in business. Favourite movie: Indochine with Catherine Deneuve Preferred flavour of ice cream: Vanilla Fudge Ripple Where are you headed in the next few years: To keep expanding the collection offerings and growing the business internationally |

I’ve got so much love for this woman. I kind of wish she’d start doing menswear.
